SMART CITY >> Waste management
Municipalities, residents, and waste management operators responsible for selective collection, monitoring, traceability, and billing.
They aim to improve waste collection efficiency, reduce unnecessary truck routes, encourage correct waste separation, and support cleaner, smarter public spaces.
Challenge
Local authorities and operators require solar-powered, off-grid waste bins for public areas. The system must continuously power smart features such as volume sensors, access control (RFID/QR) and data transmission, addressing the challenge of ensuring reliable data, optimizing collection, and guaranteeing traceability for regulatory compliance and billing purposes.
Our Role
XUNZEL acts as a technology enabler by providing the off-grid power architecture required to keep the containers operational. By combining solar generation, lithium storage, and management electronics, it enables autonomous operation without the need for construction work or cabling, ensuring a continuous power supply to critical functions such as sensors, access control, and data transmission in outdoor environments.
Value Delivered
XUNZEL enables autonomous, connected, and scalable smart waste infrastructure. The solution provides continuous power for RFID access, QR-code traceability, fill-level sensors, communication modules, control electronics, and lid operation systems.
By removing the need for grid connection, XUNZEL helps reduce deployment costs, simplify installation, and enable smart containers in locations where electrical infrastructure is unavailable or difficult to access.
For operators, this supports better collection planning, fewer unnecessary truck movements, improved efficiency, and more reliable data for monitoring and billing. For municipalities, it contributes to cleaner public spaces, improved selective collection compliance, and a more sustainable urban waste management model.
